Good Luck to the inPhorm Team
I’m so pleased to see our Gugu (Giuliana Olmos), KK (Kaitlyn Christian) and Alla Kudryavtseva returning to tournaments in safe and protected venues.
Last week was the the women’s Top Seed Open in Lexington, Kentucky. This week they’ve been getting ready for the US Open at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City, which begins August 31, by playing in the Western&Southern Open (moved to New York from Cincinnati for less traveling a bigger protective bubble).
I’ve learned how difficult living in a bubble can be — seeing pictures from their social media posting of assigned spaces, signages, dos-and-don’ts and the individually wrapped care package items to keep them safe and healthy.
Yes, as is everything else, it’s a different US Open this year. Many of the top players are skipping the tournament because they don’t feel safe enough to travel, which we allI completely understand.
It has been a long time since the last major competition. Indian Wells was cancelled just a few days before it was to start in March.
To many players, not being able to play is like being on an enforced furlough. Competing is important. It’s how they improve their game and their ranking and earn their living.
We’ll see how the US Open pans out – – no pun intended. I am happy that our team is healthy. The W&S matches are this weekend.
Good luck ladies!
