Every year, I take the time to reflect on Earth Day and on the actions we at inPhorm have taken to do our part to combat some of the negative impacts that humans have caused to our planet and our society.
For a young company, it is a challenge to reduce your carbon footprint by a certain percentage or time frame — as we rely on so many resources to operate, manufacture and ship our products.
When I founded inPhorm, my goal was to create a brand that would be conscious of the environmental and social impact of the fashion industry, and to do everything I could to empower consumers to be kinder to the earth. My spouse coined the term “Eco-Forward” for me because he believed in my vision, and that I would do the right thing.
Choices were pretty limited when we started, but we managed to find mills and factories that were certified by EU Eco Label, fabrics that were made from sustainable sources and dying technology that reduces water usage. Twelve years later, thankfully, there are more options that allow us to choose the right materials when designing our products.
In manufacturing, we work with a facility that is in compliance with human rights and fair wages. Our factory uses solar panels for power and has a wastewater recycling system -- two important steps in developing cleaner ecosystems.
On the socio-economic front, ninety-eight percent of the inPhorm team are women who are passionate about their work and the quality that they stand behind.
Follow us and check back to hear more about these women in our blog on Women’s Day.
